[X220] Wi-Fi upgrade
[X220] Wi-Fi upgrade
Hi there
I am aware that there is a modded BIOS that allows to operate other PCI Wi-Fi cards.
Are there any recommendations which one to use? AC and MUMIMO would be highly appreciated.
Does the WPEQ-261ACN(BT) work? It offers MUMIMO, something the IT-8260HMW does not, as far as I'm aware.
Or are there any 3x3 cards available? I think it were possible to install one with an additional flexible antenna which could be stored under the palm rest?!
Thank you very much in advance!

Oh, how could I forget to specify this. xD I am very sorry. The model in question is the x220!

There should be two additional antenna wires available if you're not using the WWAN card.
Intel's AC-7260 (7260HMW) works great for me. If you go for it just make sure you don't accidentally end up with a 7260HMWAN, which is a low-spec variant w/o AC. Or are you looking for something better than the 7260? There are M.2 adapters, which would allow using all the newer Wi-Fi cards, although I'm not sure if an adapter would fit in the limited space available. And you'd have to change the antenna wires too as they use a different connector.

Thank you for your reply!
I hoped there would be something better than the 7260 or the 8260, maybe even something with AC-1300 speeds or higher.
Any recommendations are highly appreciated
