Can the X220 drive ultra-wide and/or high refresh rate displays?

Quick question: does anyone know whether or not the X220 can drive a 3440x1440 or 5120x1440 display at 60 Hz? And how does it handle high refresh rate displays, say 100 or 144 Hz?
I've had it hooked up to a 4k display running at 30 Hz a while ago but never in combination with an ultra-wide.

I read X220-s struggled a bit with this - allegedly even scrolling a PDF is no longer smooth.. did you by any chance see any of that?

I also remember reading somewhere that Intel HD Graphics 4000 which we have in our X220-s features version 1.1 of DisplayPort which seems to offer at max "10.8 Gbit/s (8.64 Gbit/s data rate) over a standard 4-lane main link" aka HBR which seems to be capped at 30fps for 3840 × 2160 according to the same page. It's also written there that for 2560 × 1440 it should be able to support 30, 60 and 85fps. Logically speaking for 5120x1440 which is double the amount of pixels it should then be limited to 30fps. 3440x1440 looks more intriguing.. My back of envelope calculation suggests there might be enough bandwidth to drive that at 60fps. Indeed 60/85 < 2560/3440.

I believe that other forms of output like DVI or HDMI are somehow converted/adapted from Display Port so the same - or stricter limits should apply. Ah btw the docking port allegedly has 2 DisplayPort lines so depending on your dock there is enough bandwidth to support two monitors like this. How smooth the scrolling becomes then is a different question. All the above purely theoretical

BTW I also read that although X230 is also Intel HD Graphics 4000 it allegedly handles high resolutions like this a bit better - e.g. provides smoother scrolling etc

P.S. thanks to RealBlackStuff for correcting me in that X220 features HD Graphics 3000. I haven't been able to find out if that supports DP 1.1 like HD Graphics 4000 in X230 and if all the above applies to X220 as well. I would hope it does....

X220 has HD3000, it's the X230 which has the HD4000 you refer to.

I didn't notice any issues with the X220 running in 4k@30fps. Granted, it was slow but that was mostly due to the low refresh rate. Scrolling through PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, even websites was buttery smooth. So if I understand this correctly based on the bandwidth available with DisplayPort 1.1 I should be able to run 3440x1440@60Hz or 5120x1440@30Hz. Good to know, thank you. I also do have that docking station with two DisplayPort ports but I think a single widescreen monitor will be more than enough.

This one seems like a pretty clear evidence to me... X220 is 2nd generation Core CPU.

In any case, there are no bandwidth differences between 1.0 and 1.1.
