X201 went dead and won't turn on, might be due to rain

#1 Post by Pleasegodsavemylaptop » Wed Nov 03, 2021 3:17 pm

Hi nice to meet you everyone.
I was out and it started raining and my X201 was in my bag but got a bit wet. When I removed it the rain seemed to be only superficial, on the back of the laptop, so I wiped it off and let the laptop for about an hour before turning it on.

Thankfully it worked so I used it for a few minutes but then it suddenly turned off. It has no indication of power when plugged in, and neither with a battery.

I tried pressing the power button for a minute and it didn't help.

It's the first time this happens with it. It's a few years old but worked perfectly until now.

:(

Can you guys/girls suggest what might have happened? I'm not sure if it's related to rain getting inside it, I hope not.

hello and welcome to the forum..
occams razor..
simplest answer is the rain..
you probably fried something when you were using it while wet..
simplest solution is a replacement system board..
