X200s with 1440x900 availability in Europe ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:51 am

I'm wondering whether any X200s configurations with WXGA+ (1440x900) display resolution are available in Europe ? I searched our local (Czech) Lenovo site, German and UK but none of them offers it. Does it mean that the overall ThinkPad features/quality decline has reached to the point that it exhibits inavailability of reasonable configurations ? 16" WXGA only next year ?

I live in Europe too and grew tired of waiting so I ordered one from the US in november. At first I had some regrets (it was very expensive to pay the tax duties), but seeing now that even if I had waited I would not have been able to get the computer I wanted, I am happy with my choice. It really is a great machine.

Life might be much easier if I moved to an EU-free country :jhem:

Only slightly. We are an EU-free country, but the official import is still limited to European models. We have a few retailers here that import US models (model number ending in U), which allow you to get some nice configurations at a good price, but usually these are models whose IWS is not valid in Europe/Israel (which is the reason they are cheaper in the first place).

Hi,

I bought my X200s here but if you don't have a valid student ID (or don't know anybody who has one) you can go here.

It's a German company and they sell German version of X200s but can change the keyboard for you to any layout you want (for a little extra). While I'm not entirely satisfied with their customer service (I feel like I waited longer than I had to for the delivery and some of my e-mails that I sent to them were left without answer; also couldn't get a tracking number from them for a while (eventually got it though)) I received my laptop in perfect condition and am very happy with the purchase. Oh, and this model has a worldwide warranty (just check lenovo's website if you don't believe me).

You can order via e-mail if you don't know German language and pay via bank transfer or paypal.

DISCLAIMER: I don't work for this company and this is not meant to be an advertisement. It's simply information how to get X200s with WXGA+ screen in Europe. I waited long time to get mine so I want to help people get theirs since I know what a pain it is right now.
i run linux on my thinkpad x200s; it's stable, fast, secure and it's a great way to stay in shape

Another possibility would be here, it's €4,00 cheaper :o FYI, the company also hosts http://www.thinkpad-forum.de/.
