T420 ? Installing Win10; preserving Preload/Win7 Recovery Partition/Preload ?

#1 Post by null_unit » Fri Feb 18, 2022 2:04 am

Quick question: is there a way to install Windows 10 onto a T420 while preserving the the Windows 7 Recovery Partition/Preload?

... and if not, what's the best way to backup the OEM Win7 install and recovery partition?

I think that if you don't touch / don't format the Win7 preload partition, and install Win10 to a different partition, it will preserve it. It may become non-bootable, because a different partition will be marked 'active', but this is just a flag and can be reverted at a later time should you wish to restore your Win7 environment.
