Windows 10 on T410 - Power Manager/Monitor
Windows 10 on T410 - Power Manager/Monitor
I had an early build of Win10 (~2016) on this infrequently used machine for quite some time now. It works "OK" but various Lenovo tools don't work.
This week I updated in several steps from that 2016 W10 build to current. Somewhere along the line the Windows 10 installer deleted the entire folder that one of the Lenovo Power Manager components lived in. (C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.dll)
So on each boot I got an error that this module wasn't found/couldn't start. After some troubleshooting I was able to eliminate the boot error by disabling the scheduled task to triggers that module.
But I'm wondering - Lenovo's official fix for this problem is to install a newer version of the Power and Battery driver. But the T410 is not listed as compatible with that driver.
Is it worth trying to install it anyway, or will it just fail immediately because the T410 isn't in the compatible list?

Have you thought of trying to install Lenovo Vantage?

Re: Windows 10 on T410 - Power Manager/Monitor
I don't know much about that app, but I've seen references to it.
Is it compatible with the T410?
I know that the T410 was never certified to run Windows 10.
I also noticed that this machine has a 183GB partition called "Lenovo Recovery" which seems mostly empty except for a copy of the factory Windows image that takes up about 10GB of space.
According to the info when you run "LenovoQDrive.exe" in that partition, you can create a bootable DVD of the factory image and then have the partition deleted.
But when I click the button to create that media, the file is not found:
"Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\factory recovery\recovburncd.exe"
So maybe that partition is useless now? I think the Win10 updater deleted a bunch of Lenovo stuff.
Certainly would be nice to get that space back.

It should be. It's working on my T520 which is only a year newer. Try it.
You might just need to re-build your system with a fresh format of teh disk and a new OS.

Use Lenovo vantage or Lenovo Commercial Vantage, if you want a battery gauge on taskbar, install Lenovo Vantage non-commercial, the commercial one doesn't have that function.
