Thinkpad T400 Audio issues

I got a thinkpad T400 somewhat recently and the audio in both the speakers and headphones doesn't seem to work. Not even getting beeps from the BIOS. The Audio driver did seem to install properly in both Windows XP and Manjaro and appears to be working in both but I cannot get the audio output to work. I have done everything from configuring the OS to resetting the BIOS to no avail and I'm not sure if its that the board is defective or if theres something I'm missing here.

Have you checked the Volume keys at the top of the keyboard?
That unit (incl. the Power switch) is replaceable, just in case.

sorry for the late reply i was gone for a while, the volume keys seem to work ill press them and ill see the volume go up and down in manjaro but nothing happens, i tired muting and unmuting and again i saw the icon change but other than that, nothing

Get the T400 manual from the HMM link at the top of the page, then check
"Removing and replacing a FRU" section 1040 "Speaker assembly".
