how to use one of two graphic cards / nvidia / intel at T570 ?

#1 Post by m-blue » Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:30 am

Hi,
I am wondering how to change or be sure what card is atually active at T570h (Type 20JX)? I am not sure, but there is two graphic cards, intel and geforce 940MX. Is there any option which card is actually active and how to made nvidia effective?
I am using laptop everyday and don't need any special parametres, but I would like to give computer to my son, he play with minecraft and want to have good parameters :) I know that laptop is not gaming machine but I want to wait a moment until he will know what he want to do :) and not to change conputer every year. Thx for help,
Regards,
Michal

The generally accepted position is that the laptop will use the nVidia GPU automatically when a 3D application is launched.
Some claim that it doesn't always work, but you can force it to use the discrete GPU through the "manage 3D settings" screen of the nVidia control panel.
Some say even that doesn't always work.

I could never be sure, and the 940MX isn't a powerful GPU anyways.
