That seller is NOT RMSMajestic.

That looks like the same unauthorized clone that has been sold for a while on Ali-Express and Ebay.

How can you claim no flicker and low power consumption for all?

Buyers, beware.

It is up to RMSMajestic, and only RMSMajestic to post claims about the product.

HI,friend
First, I am not RMSMajestic .
Second , This is the new version controller board from our company, not clone any ones . We have test over 7 days with these new version before . No flickering issue , and Lower Power consumption . We test Continued a whole 24 hours, and then use the finger to touch the main chip , it is only a little heat , not hot , won't hurt the fingers or cook an egg . The factory said the main chip is about 200mW . Someday , if it is possible, we will test it .

I bought one. Works pretty well. I have noticed a little flicker occasionally on startup, but works flawlessly after a minute or two. I’ve been using it regularly for the last 6-8 weeks or so. I’ve been happy with it and have found it to be worth it. The hardest part was finding an authentic AUO...1.3 display. YMMV.

I find three vendors selling this board on Ebay; sunnyqshop, e-qstore, and csmqshop. The e-qstore Ebay listing is new. The Ebay listing by sunnyqshop goes back to March 2018. The Ebay listing by csmqshop goes back to February 2018. The three vendors use the exact same pictures except for the watermark. Based on the timing, and appearance, this product is similar to the clones mentioned by RMSMajestic. And when the posting says "Well, The new 1920X1080 IPS FHD Upgrade Kit for thinkpad T420 T430 , And T430S T420S is on sale now. No flickering issue , and Lower Power consumption" it certainly sounds like an improved RMSMajestic product, especially as this new "vendor" has not posted here before. But I have no way of knowing if this is a completely different product from RMSMajestic and Javi-Jie or is based on their research or is a copy or a clone. It would be helpful if RMSMajestic could comment, and if he could update the status of his FHD upgrade board for the non-S models. It has been since Oct 2017 since RMSMajestic posted "the kits for non-s T420/T430 will be out, but special terms might apply, which I will open another thread later." I think it is fair at this time to ask RMSMajestic for an update on the status of the non-S kit, or perhaps these other kits are the only option that will be available.

HI, Niknok .

I do know who you are , and What is your purpose .

Don't discredit me and the others .

We are in LCD controller board about 7 years, supply lots of LCD controller boards for TTL, TMDS, LVDS, EDP panels . We are cooperating with some main LCD controller board factories and some original LCD chips suppliers . We have some original LCD chips' engineers support.

It is shameful to clone other people's creation . The topics produces that we sell are our own design and firmware.

Errrrr just wondering. If it's your own design and firmare why don't you change the embedded SPD for some better or cheaper panels? Right now even B140HAN02 has came out?

And how about WQHD kits? Are you able to come up with your own design?

It's okay, Javi's design has pretty much became a public reference. And we will cease support for FHD panels. Good luck dealing with fake panel sellers on feebay :)

Installed FHD upgrade kit sold by e-qstore in a T420 (i7, 8gb, SSD, 90w adapter). Mounted (taped) board onto lid behind LCD panel.

No flickering at all.

No flickering on battery power only, or when AC adapter charging battery.

Works well for my system.

What's are the required screen specs?

I've been using my coreboot T420 with quad core Ivy Bridge processor but the screen makes the machine difficult to use. If this works, I could use a few of these kits.

From their eBay:
Support LCD model:

AUO B140HAN01.0 B140HAN01.1 B140HAN01.2 B140HAN01.3
LG LP140WF1-SPB1 LP140WF1-SPV1 LP140WF1-SPK1
SAMSUNG LTN140HL02-B01

You can prepare one to replace for your panel . Please note : this item does not include a LCD panel .
There are some fake LCD panel in the market , some sellers mark a fake sticker . after install the Not compatible panel , the backlight will turn on , but it will be no picture . We suggest you buy B140HAN01.3 , this panel parameter is relatively good, other panels are scarce in the market
I'd buy this but my recreational budget is terribly limited right now.

There’s not neccecarily anything unethical about cloning something the right way though.

Has anyone used their cable and screen combo? I found a listing that includes the cable and a FHD IPS Screen for about $150 that I am interested in trying but would like to see if anyone else has taken the plunge.

The PRIMO119 code convinced me to buy one of these as I don't have the patience to hunt down the screen myself. 157 PPI here I come. Will the T430 be able to replace my T500?

I installed my LCD + adapter kit today. I got the B140HAN01.1 LCD and it has a stuck pixel in the middle... It's dimmer than I'd expect from an LED screen, the TN FHD I have in the T520 is way brighter, but that can be attributed to the IPS nature of this display. And it's great to have an IPS display again. No more tilting the lid up and down. There is minor edge backlight bleeding and moreso in the lower left corner where I taped the adapter board, but only noticeable on dark backgrounds.

14" 1920x1080 doesn't scream loads of real estate like 15.4" 1920x1200, probably because I'm missing 120 horizontal lines, and because of the 14" diagonal. 15.4" can make 1280x800 seem like a lot, because there is physically a LOT of screen on a 15.4", less so on a 14". There are still appreciably more pixels than heckin 1600x900 may it go obsolete.

Default text is not too small to read from an arm's length away.

60p is the only supported refresh rate. (the HD+ could do 60p and 40p.) Speaking of the HD+, that will eventually go into my second T420 that is presently without a lid.

Backlight controls work as they should with a working OSD in Windows 7.

It arrived within 2 weeks of ordering so I'm pleased about that.

There was a small baggy included with four flat little rubber nubs about the diameter of a key dome, IDK what they're for so I ignored them.

It's good overall. I don't like the price tag, list price of $147 for the FHD + adapter combo, whereas it costs less than $50 tops for an HD+ LCD and cable combo, but it is what it is. Only in the Thinkpad world can you get nice things like this. Good job EvanJoo and e-qstore.

The recommended placement of the adapter board, behind the LCD in the lower left corner of the lid, causes backlight bleed and promotes unnecessary flexing of the LCD glass with lid motion. !! Not wanting to cause early wear to the display I found a new place for the adapter board.

Large image: https://i.imgur.com/HsasL8J.jpg

I ripped out the aluminum keyboard support from the palmrest to make room for the adapter board to fit there. The adapter board and cables are covered with electrical tape to protect from heat and hold them above the fan so it spins undisturbed. Temperature is unaffected.

My speaker grille was already missing and I haven't the interest to replace it.

That's quite clever! Is it a tight fit?

I wonder if the board could fit in the GPU area [for those without a GPU] if the cable was longer.

With a longer cable you can do this: https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i4/2502 ... 292302.jpg as sold on Taobao. But whether or not they are the improved versions without flickering is unknown.

I am having some airflow problems doing this but the backlight bleed and screen flexing bothers me more.

Here is Evan Joo's reply to a query about purchasing a longer cable to experiment with placement of the (non-S) converter board:

HI,friend

Thank you very much for your letter and advice.
The longer cable of the kit for the t430s can work with this item, but as the cable are so a little bigger that they are not putting under the keyboard. We try to cut some GND cables to Make them thin and thin, so that to put them to under the keyboard. But there is another problem is that The signal are easily disturbed, and some time the the screen can not see . So we do not cut the GND cables to make it thin. But send with the plastic washer for people install the screen. Hope for your understanding.
Have a great day!

Evan

Has anyone received the washers and if so, where are they used? I assume they are something to raise the LCD evenly...
