Looks like there will be some new screen choices coming to Lenovo...

I was hoping this would mean a completely different screen with better specifications. Unfortunately, it seems they just put a capacitive layer over the existing screen and charge $400 for it.

With that said, it seems pretty gimmicky. I can't imagine many people who would want their hands to move away from the keyboard to do things like change the volume or... open a webpage...

They should have offered a higher quality screen and charged $400 for that instead.

Does anyone know if it's an IPS screen or not? Don't really care about the multitouch feature, but if it was IPS... well...

PS: I doubt it is, since someone would have to MAKE it for them, and nobody's really looking to make high quality screens these days... :-(

yeah but lenovo is going after the "cool factor"" and the word "IPS" means nothing to the masses.

Personally I'd rather not have greasy fingerprints all over my laptop screen. Sounds like the kind of gimmick I'd expect from Apple.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the panels are pretty much the standard LCDs with a capacitive touch-screen layer applied to it. That's pretty much what this review seems to be saying: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=5256

In any case, it's definitely not an IPS panel.

Agreed. I spend so much time cleaning my screen for accidental touches, and now they WANT me to touch the screen?

It looks like T400s is the winner of "the worst notebook display contrast ever" award by value 98:1 :!:

This is definitely worse than most of cheap netbooks.
