DisplayPort Issues
DisplayPort Issues
So I'm gathering that DisplayPorts on Thinkpads don't do audio?
Not cool.
I found this thread, which is rather old now, and that's the conclusion.
Does anyone know if this has changed? Please tell me that's changed and I'm just doing something wrong ...
I have a T400s running to a 1080p TV via a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable.
There is no sound (problem No. 1) and the image does not fill the whole screen (problem No. 2).
Is there a way to get audio through the TV with this rig?
Is there a way to get a full 1080p image?
Thanks for the help,
Mike

Re: DisplayPort Issues
T400s, T500, R500, W500 displayport only supports video signal, this is a hardware limitation. There are expensive converter box out there to merge additional digital audio channel with the digital video channel into another displayport channel that supports both audio and video.
Are you using 1080p resolution in your T400s? or are you using different resolutions?

Re: DisplayPort Issues
Are you duplicating the display, extending the display, or outputting external only?

Re: DisplayPort Issues
I've tried all three with the same results, but the ultimately I'd like the TV as an extended display in full 1080p ...Colonel O'Neill wrote:Are you duplicating the display, extending the display, or outputting external only?

Would the same DisplayPort lack of audio apply if I plugged it into a Mini Dock or Mini Dock Plus?

Re: DisplayPort Issues
the lack of audio in the displayport is limited by the intel chipset, using the dock as mentioned by you won't do anything to change that.
Also, try to change the external LCD resolution using the intel display driver to see whether you can get the correct 1080p resolution.

Thanks for your help. I did play with the Intel driver, with no luck. I ordered another adapter and will report back whether that changes anything ...
EDIT: New adopter, nothing happened.
