O_S_X on sl400 - 2743 or Netflix is My Crack Cocaine

#1 Post by Kyocera » Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:30 pm

I acquired one of these machines for work, at first I almost hurled  when I got it, but I kind of dig the piano finish and it's light for such a gigantic machine. I was always a big fan  of that guy that put that thick (piano) shiny finish on his T-series years ago and this looks just like that.

Was wondering if anyone has tried installing osx on one of these. Basically I just want to run the OS and have a wireless connection to watch netflix with safari. ANyone tried that?

Thanks.

Mike,

Any particular reason why you want to run OSX and not some Linux flavour?

I'm guessing if you want to stream Netflix, it won't play nice out of the box like OS X.

George, I gave away all my Linux distro CD's, I had Xandros and Ubuntu. Don't know if firefox will work all that great, but the bottom line is I want just a machine or partition to have for netflix. I.E.7 in XP has F'd up the netflix viewer with silverlight. I've read some folks are using OSX and are back to normal. Vista seems fine but i'ts only running on my e-center in the living room.

I'm such a Netflix-a-holic now, may need rehab from Rockford Files and Colombo  soon. It started with a few Hitchcock episodes now and then, then I was moving (literally and figuratively) into the Twilight Zone, now the Rockford Files theme song terrorizes my mind 24/7  and I have watched Colombo episodes three or more times (I lost count) . Weekends are traumatic, the watch instantly movies beckon to me :help: and the movie marathon is on  I wait by the mailbox most days, for the lovely red packages I need so bad, but the don't always come :( . :help: :help: .
