SL510 Replace CPU T4400 with P8700 Question

#1 Post by jwc553911 » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:13 pm

Bought my SL510 earlier this year. ordered it with upgrade from Celeron T3100 to T4400.
My question is can i swap out the CUP with a P8700 2.53, or will there be heat issues or MB issues??
Thanks in advance.

I upgraded my SL410 T5870 to a T9550 with no issues. I was going to get the P8700 but I came across a great deal on a T9550 and had to do it. I used Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal compound. I would say it might run just a little bit hotter, or at least the fan seems to kick on just a little bit more but it is noticeably faster. Just keep the old CPU in case you have to send it in for warranty work. I would also pay attention on how the thermal paste is on the original CPU so that if you have to send it in, you can re create the same application of thermal paste.

Good luck!
