Choice Between Thinkpad L Series and the T Series.

hi guys ,
i am in a bit of confusion .
Till now , I was gonna buy a thinkpad L 412 with Dedicated graphics .
And with the specs that i want it was ringing upto $775.

Now lenovo has removed the option of a core i3 on L412(dedicated).
and now my specs run upto $100

meanwhile , I noticed the T series with same specs but no Dedicated graphics cost upto $795 (with student discount and coupon).

Now , should i go for the L412 (i'll get it cheaper without graphics) or the T410.

My main goal is for the laptop to have high reliability for 2 Years , i'll be running serious Simulation S/W on it and little or No CAD.
(I am a Mechanical Engineering Grad Student ). Specs are important .
