Hi
My W520 wont start at all
The story -
Original DC power socket was quite loose and cable would come off every now and then, so thought to change that "yellow" socket
Exactly similar socket with "some notch and groove" inside ones was little costly so bought the one, similar model which was just round and no "notch" etc in that yellow socket.
All pin configurations are same from the back, the only thing was it came with diff cable connector so I moved the cable + connector from old one to new one
W520 power connector has 7 pins - 3 black (-ve), 3 red (+ve) and 1 blue (not sure what that was), but at the end of connector negative and blue were shorted - all in original connector - and that wasy it was all working fine.
So moved that power connector with its cable to new socket.
Now, to get to that yellow socket, I had to pull out the whole board, somehow it was so so difficult as I overlooked one of the screw near that socket and I kept applying some pressure to pull it out (away from the bottom plastic case).
After all this changing, and when put things back, the board wont turn ON, no pwer light anywhere when power cable is connected to the socket.
I know that when you connect the power cable. immediately the green power LED on screen panel lights up, but now that doesnt happen either
I checked the voltage on power connector after connecting to the board and voltages are fine 20V
I dont know what else to check on the board
Take a look at our

W520 board do not power ON
Re: W520 board do not power ON
Did you change the tail from power supply? Because the tail has ID resistor inside it. Tail you order from aliexpress or any other aftermarket tail won't have an ID resistor. So you have to install ID resistor on board for it to work.

My laptop today is getting new USB connector and thermal paste and dust cleaning, so you can see the same plug you have installed is modified with an ID resistor. This is only necessary if you changed the tail on power supply.
Since you messed with connector of power plug to board, you also messed with ID pin from the tail. So that could possibly be your problem. If not, more hands on diagnostics is needed. If you can't sort it out yourself, I can take a look at it for you, if you're near Miami, FL.
