W520/W530 unit hotkey software for windows 8.1/10?

#1 Post by goji » Fri Dec 11, 2015 1:27 am

Hello, i found a package for these system for it's for x30 units.. Installed it on my W520 though and most keys works, some don't. I wanted to try fixing these, as well as changing some, as i did until now. Problem is, i can't find the entries in registry! HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\TPHOTKEY\ That's where they were.. They must've moved somewhere else, they can't be inexistant!

MOD edit: changed the title from X20 to W520/W530 to avoid confusion.
Also moved it to the W520 forum.

I doubt very much that X20/X30 has any drivers for W8, let alone for W10.
One thing you may want to check: replace IBM with LENOVO in your registry-search.

Can't find still :( Actually the sleep key doesn't work & music controls work only while you focus on the playing app. On 7 it worked even if app's in background. It's maybe an issue with 10.. But there must be a way to fix it! Hopefully someone here will know..

Well, in order for hotkey features to work, one must have Power Manager installed, along with the Hotkey utility itself. These are not officially supported by Lenovo on anything past W7.

On another note, let's clear the confusion regarding the models: are you referring to X20/X30 from the Pentium III era, or to the T/W 520/530 systems. I'm presuming the latter, but would like to be certain...

I'm not the right person to ask, since I don't use W8.x or W10.

Power Manager can be installed on these operating systems, but is likely to be less-than-fully-functional and/or cause stability issues.

Good luck.
