[ask]connecting external monitor via d-port problem

Edit/rephrase:

using a displayport to DVI adapter to connect w500 with ATI v5700 to a lenovo monitor.
presentation director sets extended desktop successfully(multiple displays).
but presentation director refuses to display on the external display when set up the external monitor as the main display (single display).
While using VGA connector, both setting are easily set up and works 100% both at 1920x1200 res.


graphic:fire v5700, latest driver ver.
os: vista 32bit
monitor: l2440p, latest driver ver.
dp to dvi adapter: single link


ps: i tried to set up the ext monitor via ATI catalyst and it works fine, the ext monitor is displaying as the main monitor while thinkpad display is turned off. Why the latest ver of presentation director failed to do so? is there anything that i missed out during setting up via presentation director?
