R31 DOS retrogaming
By any chance does anyone know what could be a trouble with ThinkPad R31 running DOS games? They crash and don't run. Windows98 and 32 bit applications run perfectly. Just in case, here is a thread I've created on vogons: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=78976
Re: R31 DOS retrogaming
Try running your DOS games with DOS/32A. That worked for me with some games that didn't want to start with DOS/4GW.

Re: R31 DOS retrogaming
I wonder if a recovery CD exist for the R31. Or maybe there is another way to restore factory-installed software - to check if DOS games worked out of the box.
BTW I've tried installing vanilla Windows98 and WindowsXP and all the appropriate drivers from the R31 downloads and, unfortunately, DOS stuff didn't run.

I've had better luck running some of these programs using DosBox.

Oh, that goes without saying. But retrogaming is this hobby where it is not always just about running the games, but also about using real hardware, or period-correct systems, or whatnot...davidgurvich wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 11:43 amI've had better luck running some of these programs using DosBox.
