Windows 7 and Inkscape V1.3.2

#1 Post by babblefish » Wed May 21, 2025 4:29 am

Hi guys.Anyone have any experience running Inkscape with Windows 7? I just installed Inkscape V1.4.2 in my Thinkpad X230T and while it intalled without issue, whenever I click on the Inkscape icon, nothing happens.I checked online to see if Inkscape is compatible with Windows 7, the answer I see is that while the latest version is not officially supported, it should work. Some older messages I read says that it runs fine on their machines. Obviously I could not find anyone running Windows 7 and Inkscape now. Sigh, sometimes it's hard being retro.

Here's Inkscape's releases page: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1 ... directed=1

According to the information there, Windows 7 is last supported on version 1.2.2. Therefore you may have better luck installing that version: http://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.2.2/
Windows version requirements

Inkscape 1.3.x requires at least Windows 8.1
Inkscape 1.2.2 down to Inkscape 0.92.4 require at least Windows 7
Inkscape 0.92.3 is the last version that supports Windows Vista and XP

Thanks TPFanatic. Version 1.2.2 worked. Now I can take advantage of the tablet/pen function of my X230T.
