Black Sqaure Box

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W530 that I purchased in March. It has Win 7 Professional 64 bit pre-installed on it. On my desktop is this small black box about 3/4" to 1" square that has the white outline of an arrow pointing up and the the white outline of the letter A inside it. I cannot find out how to get rid of it or what it is. I cannot move it and right clicking does not give any information about it. Could someone tell me how to delete it?

You are correct. I am working in a computer language (SPSS) and have caps on. Thanks for your help.
