Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
Downloaded the latest beta drivers for windows 7 64-bit on my X301. Noticed immediately after installing Access Connections that explorer.exe was skyrocketing in memory usage without bound, I think at one point it was at 600mb in RAM usage.
After uninstalling this utility, I observed explorer.exe no longer going insane. So just a tip!

Re: Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
I didnt see that problem (though I didnt look for it), but I uninstalled AC because it just seemed like it was very buggy.

I am also seeing this with the 64 bit 6jc705us version, on a T60p (this is the new version) the older 6jc703us version does not show this.

I wonder if you could elaborate a wee bit.
The current version of Access Connections until very recently was Version 5.22 (7xcv26ww) and the same version serviced 64-bit and 32-bit machines.
The brand new version is 5.31 (6hcv20ww) and still one version for both 64-bit and 32-bit.
This information does not reconcile at all with this post. Where I have gone wrong?
And can anyone at all confirm if Access Connections V5.31 has a memory leak problem on Vista? Windows 7 is still completely pre-release and I am not using it.
Thanks ... JDH

Re: Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
The Windows 7 Beta drivers can be found here. Lenovo released several updated Beta Drivers within the last few days. Unfortunately they are not indicating when they are releasing new drivers. Other than giving them a new file download name such as 6jc705us or the older 6jc703us. In the last several days they have quietly released a number of new Beta drivers, twice at this point, (three times in total) that I am aware of.

Thank you for that. Most confusing to us who won't install Windows 7 until certified machines come with it. .. JDH
Re: Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
I'm not an Admin like yourself. But it is my understanding that discussions of Windows 7 elsewhere within Thinkpads.com are off topic? So I'm thinking that discussions within this area of other OS (Vista and XP) would be equally off topic for this area? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit OS Build 7100 with all updates. I installed Access Connections 6jc703us, and used it for a number of days. On June the 5 I installed the 6jc705us version of access connections. This version displays an icon in the taskbar, next to the power icon. On my 64 bit version of Windows 7 this version is causing a memory leak, that if one does not restart explorer will lock my T60p within a day. I would have thought within this area most users would know we are talking about Windows 7? The 64 bit that I am referring to is the Windows 7 OS version, and not the access connection version. Sorry for the confusion.jdhurst wrote:Thank you for that. Most confusing to us who won't install Windows 7 until certified machines come with it. .. JDH

Your post is in the correct forum. What I didn't realize is that Lenovo is using different version identifiers for Windows 7. I use AC all the time and would not be without it, so I was concerned for the current version for production operating systems. My error. ... JDH

Re: Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
I just updated from AC5.22 to AC 5.33. No memory leak is noticed in Vista Home Premium and all seems to be working well. The UI on AC 5.22 was distorted and is now fixed in 5.33.

Re: Warning: Memory Leak in Access Connections
the memory leak i reported occurs in windows 7 RC 1. so that was kind of off topic but its good to know theres no memory leaks for the driver in an actual production OS.spwhiting@ wrote:I just updated from AC5.22 to AC 5.33.
