Taskbar shortcuts

#1 Post by Truthfinder » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:41 am

Would anyone know what steps are needed to add a program icon (shortcut) to the taskbar, to the right of the Windows start button? Each time I try to drag a desktop icon into the taskbar it fails.

Thanks in advance.

Right click on the application Icon and select "Pin to Taskbar"

Actually, dragging to the taskbar should work just fine... What are you trying to drag to the taskbar? If it is some folder, then you cannot create separate shortcut for it in the taskbar, you can only pin it to the explorer shortcut :!:

Hi Bill:

Each time I try to drag an icon to the task bar I get a Red Circle with a line through it. The pin to task bar is not working. A friend of mine is having the same problem.

When I first installed Win 7, this feature worked, however, it has since died. Any ideas? I'm still able to pin them to the Start Menu, but that's about it.

At this point I have a Outlook and IE shortcut there. I'd like to add a couple of additional shortcuts.

Thanks, Steve

Is "pin to taskbar" grayed out or completely missing from the menu? Have you applied any "hacks" to remove the shortcut arrows from icons/folders? Have you used any registry cleaners on this system?

Thanks to all to responded:

The problem was something that I caused and forgot about. I did in fact make a reg change to remove the shortcut check-marks from the desktop shotcuts.
Anyhow, I went in and made the needed adjustment and problem is solved.

Again, Thanks one and all :D
