3D printing ThinkPad parts

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Mon May 15, 2023 11:52 pm

Has anyone started printing out new old ThinkPad parts such as Palmrest, bottom base, LCD bezels, LCD top lids, lid latches. I think some places in china make HDD covers as I find lots of ThinkPad HDD covers for all kinds marked as NEW. Can still buy the IBM ThinkPad badge logo and the THINKPAD silver badge logo. But I'd like to get a new bottom base for my 390X as the entire back where the ports are is completely gone from cracking everywhere. Same for my A22e. There is a large market for Nintendo Gameboys and retro consoles where their entire shells are being 3d printed now. Even Sony PSP shells and full home console with different colors and see through are being sold.

This can also save the old 90s and early 2000 cracking plastic ThinkPads. I think most of my ThinkPads, I at least once replaced the palmrest on them due to them cracking just from old age. Some I just glued back together as the LCD bezel or palmrest is just to hard to find anymore.

There are quite a few 3D print models available via archive.org here:
