Well, for once, I'm not the one who moved it (at least, I don't think I did although I did consider it). But it's probably because it degenerated into an HP-bashing thread and the mod that moved it didn't have time to split out the offending messages. Newer members (and more than a few of the older ones) might want to review the posting guidelines at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=14339Domain wrote:Though I do wonder why this got moved into Off Topic...

Okay, no problem.
Though the only reason HP was mentioned was for comparison purposes to the fan noise of the T43. The percieved bashing was just a back and forth between two pavilion owners, giving credit to the T43's much better engineering.
But, really, not complaining or anything, thanks for the prompt reply, nonny!

i moved it and left a shadow link..
should have been in general questions, i think, though with all the call for a seperate T20/T30 series confrence i might relent and make more changes..
like a special place to bash the other brands and, eve\n, extoll those that ARE actually as good or better..
and
i am surprised that h/p has degenerated from the premier equipment maker into a consumer products company..
but THIS subject shouold be discussed in the IBM sold the PC division..
also, FWIW, my T43p (2668Q2U) has fan noise when running on battery..
not bad, but annoying when i am in the "library" as is has a slight buzz with regular.3 second speedups that sound somewhat like the rails under a slow moving train..
though much lower frequency sound..
i have done nothing to try to deal with this..
might call tech support and see if i can get a different fan but i doubt that is the problem..
(i MUST try booting to a floppy and DOS to see if this is OS induced (drivers and the like) or BIOS induced..
