I requested to pack well in a bubble wrap/box this came

#1 Post by ibmfreak » Fri Oct 28, 2011 9:07 am

I asked Ebay seller twice to pack well in bubble wrap 5cm from each corner and in a box

This I received

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/1762/p1000020zx.jpg
http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/6260/p1000019.jpg

and outcome when opened the package

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/7356/28102011108.jpg

Seller said that I had accused her wrongly that she had packed well.
According me it is her packing that was the cause that the damage could happen.

Immediately start a damaged goods procedure on eBay.
I wouldn't accept such a heap under any circumstance.

Dispute opened. Seller refuses to pay shipping cost back.
That's not all, seller shipped me a Dell power adapter!
Why not Acer adaper?
Dvd station is stuck, USB damage, plastic damage and
Windows 7 may be fake as validation process cannot start.
Nice Ebay deal....

If you used a credit card for the payment you should also notify the card issuer.

Don't forget to initiate a credit card charge back immediately...you -did- pay via ccard, didn't you?

I want through a deal almost exactly like this once(the only bad 'puter deal I've ever had on ebay, out of probably > 200 'puter goodies I've purchased there).

No problem for you, as ebay's good for buyers, assuming you've not had issues before. Sit back, will take a bit, but give ebay time to make it right.

When you ship the item back, take some pics of wrapping and boxing, and send it -requiring- a signature upon delivery.

The process is actually pretty painless; just more of a hassle at first...

Images are not viewable here... BTW, just asking, is it against the forum rule to post the link to the seller...?

Cheers.

Thanks for replies.

I paid with debit, really hard to get money back.

If I need to ship back it will be expensive closer 40-50$,
it will be my loss.

Return it in the same packaging that seller used.
Any more damage makes no difference at this point
I'm sure that was the cheapest shipping-option with the least weight.

Don't know about you... but seeing crap like this happen makes me happier about taobao every single time. Have yet to be burned and sellers will go to the end of the earth to avoid a negative feedback.

Alipay does seem to favour the buyer more than PayPal, the custody scheme is re-assuring. But, the dynamics is, I suppose, different between Chinese and western markets, and it is something I haven't thought about much...

As a buyer, both Alipay and PayPal have so far provided a satisfactory services to me.

As a seller, PayPal leaves something to be desired, as I almost lost money once.

And I have never used Alipay as a seller.

Cheers.

Unfortunately, I've been down this road a few times as well. Recently, I bought a D300 for a trip to Taiwan and Hong Kong. I came home to find a package with a SEVERE dent in the side which broke off the D-Pad on the back. Apparently the seller thought that putting the camera in a ZipLock bag was sufficient padding! In the end, it worked out and he had it repaired, but WHAT A PAIN!

This happened to my T400 too, and the case got damaged slightly. The ebay seller was giving me a hard time and put the blame on me, saying that he had packaged the laptop up properly and i was just bs him about the damage. It took like 6 months to get the problem resolved, and it was a pain in the [censored]. Obviously, when you buy online you are taking a risk, this is why you got to protect yourself with all the necessary means just to make sure that you are getting what you paid for.

Just wonder, do you think it's useful to film the unboxing...? In particular for a costly item.

Cheers.

This is why I never purchase expensive stuff online. I'd rather go to a store and buy hardware there. I might pay a bit more than online, but at least I know the items I buy are in good condition, as I see them with my own eyes before paying. Online purchases are good for cheap stuff that you can afford losing. I did receive damaged items (or not received them at all), but at worst these were items up to 20 Euro, so I just got a bit annoyed by losing some cash and lived with it. If I purchased a laptop and it happened to be damaged or didn't receive it at all, I would not be able to get another one, as I don't have this much money.

This is a pretty old post, but whoever packed it must be pretty stupid if they think they did a good job. Or they are trolling the OP.
