To celebrate the arrival of my two T42 EXUs, I'm giving away half a dozen gmail invitations to you fellow Thinkpad lovers :)

I too would enjoy a gmail account. You certainly are in the giving spirit, and I'm glad for that.

I will love an Gmail account.

As I always had been a fan of IBM and Linux, the Google people are the team that since the very beggining I believed on them too.

Sent. The good people at google seem to grant me new invitations faster I can send them, so I'll send a few more tomorrow to random lucky ones. Off to bed now :)

Sent to yahoo. I've heard yahoo sometimes filters gmail invitations as spam automatically to your trash folder so check that too if you can't see the invitation.

Akeskira, I am very grateful for your generosity, but alas it seems I must still trouble you. I have indeed recieved your invite, but it seems to be faulty. It leads me to a bad link. Would it be possible for another invite? I assure you I am in no way trying to gain another account through deceit. Again I thank you for your kindness.

EDIT: Ah nevermind it seems that it is indeed working now. A thousand apologies for the trouble.

Indeed I too am getting strange error messages, but I technically am a gmail member as well now. The error message I consistently get is that the link is already used for an account or something to that manner. Now all I get is a blank page. Very odd indeed.

Did you try asking at http://gmailswap.com ? It took about 45 minutes of some serious and eloquent begging promising my eternal gratitude to get my first invite. Then I got one for my cousin in about 12 hours at http://gmailbyclayburn.blogspot.com/ There are also some available in the FS/FT forum at http://fatwallet.com

Hope this helps!

Gmail seems to get slightly confused about once a week to twice a month, usually late at night eastern time. I think google guys are updating the system occasionally or something. These hiccups have never lasted for long, max a couple of hours.

Antti,

How long did it take for your first set of invites to come in? I've heard everything from 37.5 seconds after signing up to 3 days. It's been a little over 1 day for me, and so far, I haven't gotten any to give out.

I've had the account for a couple of months now, and the first two invites came after quite a while, perhaps after one month. Since then the pace has increased, and now I seem to get new invites the next day whenever the old ones are used up.

I've seen other people comment on how quickly they're being given invites to give out these days. I wonder if this is the method Google is choosing to roll out the service gradually rather than just throwing open the gates and getting buried.

It's an interesting service. I'm still feeling my way around the interface. It's very fast and clean, and I like that.

I had my reservations about jumping on the Gmail boat, because of all the controversy and such I kept reading about. But I just got an account from one of my friends and I must say, its about the best interface I've used. If I get some invites I'll be sure to offer some to you guys!
