Battery discussion, It has finally happened.

Seems it has finally happened. I read in today's paper about a Li-On battery recall involving Apple iBooks, G4 Powerbooks. Some 128,000 units are being recalled. Seems they have had 6 incidents worldwide, (2 in the US) of batteries bursting into flames. My guess would be a faulty microchip inside the battery. What is truly amazing to me is that it took this long to happen. I believe something other than Li-On will be on the horizon very soon as this now proveable "accident" has happened. I can see the lawyers circling already.

The recalled batteries all come from the same company (I forget which). It also happens to be the same company that made the batteries for Apple which were recalled a few months (or a couple of years) back.

Forgot where I read about this...
