I haven't been around much it has to be said, namely I had an accident which left me in hospital for pretty much all of June, and then I was back home and Internet access was not often. And then when I returned to Brighton at the end of July, I had no net access at all. But now I do.
And I have finally found a job
In the space of 2 weeks i would have had 6 job interviews, yes, six. Seems like my job app forms did enough to impress to be shortlisted, 3 of the jobs were through Office Angels (employment agency, the only one I recommend, they were ace!), and 3 I found myself. On Tuesday this week I did three job interviews. I was cream crackered by the end of the day but the 2nd one was for a job I really, really wanted.
This job was working as well the proper title is 'iLife Consultant' but basically an IT sales executive at an Apple Centre in Hove (there are 17 apple centres in the UK, or 20 if you include branches of the same company), and it basically selling Apple's stuff and showing people what they could do on the machines, showing off creative stuff - in my book a very very groovy job for someone who has always had a soft spot for the Mac (having owned a IIfx some years back) and has a creative streak. Well, I did the interview and I was very impressed with the place. I really really wanted the job big time, but you can imagine, competition was high for a place at somewhere where quite a few would love to work.
Well.
It was a £16,000 p/a job + sales bonus' + benefits, no sales targets to meet, just a bonus if you meet certain targets.
On Wednesday, I got a phone call from Office Angels as they were the agency that were dealing with my application. I GOT THE JOB!!!!!! Yeah!!!!! kick [censored]!!!!
I start this Monday coming and I am so so happy!! I couldn't believe it! I still cannot, it's going to be fantastic!
So in 3 1/2 weeks I found somewhere to live, I found a fantastic job and today I secured a graduate loan to clear all my debts into one smaller monthly payment and instead of -£1670 in the bank account, I'm now +£500
An unbelievable week.
*bounces up and down with glee*
Oh and one day I will get a ThinkPad again, we'll see how long my D600 lasts for
