merging pdf files

#1 Post by daeojkim » Sat Feb 11, 2006 9:01 am

Does anyone know how to merge pdf files in such a way that it will alternate pages between the files?

I have scanned all the front sides using ADF on my scanner then scan again for all the back side creating another file.

Now, I can's find anywhere how to merge these files together so that they are in right order.

Does anyone have any good idea for this?

Thanks.

If I am understanding your question correctly... if you buy the Adobe Acobat "full suite," you can take individual Acobat files and put them together in any order you like... all combined into one Acrobat file... Or, move the page order around.

If you have a lot of files, I'm not aware of any mechanized way to merge the files... but you can do it manually with Acrobat.

leoblob,

Thanks for the input. I do have the full version of acrobat and I can merge files as you have mentioned.

I don't think I did a good job explaining my question.

Let's say I scanned all of the front pages. i.e. pages 1,3,5,7,...
Then the back pages, 2,4,6,8,....

I can only do it this way for a large number of pages using Automatic Document Feeder because the feeder can only do one side at a time.

Now that I have created one file with all the odd pages and another with even pages I would like to put them together in right page order. I could do this manually after merging the two files, but when I have scanned few hundred pages it will take way too long to move each page at a time.

I was hoping that someone knows a way of automatically doing this.

I know this sounds intensive but you may have to scan them in individually, page 1 then flip over page 2, etc. etc., unless your ADF has a duplex option.

No, I don't have a good idea (that is, something that's free and quick), but you may want to try something from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PDF_software or this http://www.download.com/PDF-Split-Merge ... 78019.html

OK, I was afraid you had LOTS of pages to do this with. Sorry, I don't have any ideas on this one.
