Thermal grease
Thermal grease
Hi there!
Cutting to the chase:
How much thermal goo do you apply? Read around on the net and all are saying as thin and evenly spread as possible. What happens is it´s too much? The CPU getting too hot?

Well, I use some no-name brand called Balance Stars - Stars 700. It uses 10% Metal oxide compound (silver and maybe something else). Its thermal conductivity is >7.5 W/m-k and thermal resistance is <0.06 degCel etc.
Honestly I don´t know if that´s good or bad. after reapplying and cleaning the CPU and fan (it was far too much
) my CPU stays at 43 degC with wireless browsing, mediaplayer and Outlook2007.
I think this seems fine, but if Arctic can lower the temp significantly, I´m ready to reopen my T40p.
Thanks for the comments, BTW!

There has to be many posts relative to this topic (I know because I have posted in them) in almost every forum topic, recently the t4x, the R series, just use the search button. The exact process on how to install arctic silver is available via pdf and is almost word for word what ronbo wrote.

Totally agree, just monitor your temps with NHC. And marvel what machine do you have? If your in the 40's on your CPU you have no problems, I upgraded my R52 processor and am still in the 40's, there was no initial break in period, just cool fast performance.turbo wrote: I wouldn't bother.
