What mobilephone do you have? [pictures inside]

#1 Post by propellen » Tue Jun 03, 2008 4:40 pm

Hi,

I've had my Samsung SGH-X820 for quite. Its a been a winner in my eyes, both functionality and color-way ;)
img]http://lehto.net/blogi/kuvat/X820-352.jpg[/img]

I had some issues with the speakers on that phone, so i sent it to a repair shop. They didn't want to fix it, and offered me an alternative phone.

So, in search of a new good phone i turn to you guys. What phone do you use? Please state model name, number and include a ("googled") picture. :)

Best regards,
propellen

I currently have an AT&T 8525 (perhaps better known as the HTC Hermes/TyTn), which is a good phone that (in my opinion) is let down by Windows Mobile. I'm running the latest version (6.1) and I find it still crashes when I open e-mail, the dialing is slow, etc.

To that end, I have a BlackBerry 8800 on the way, which I'm going to try as an alternative to WinMo-based devices. Hopefully it works out.

Maybe you could state what you're looking for in a mobile phone? Do you need/want a camera? Do you use it for more then calling and sms? Did the battery of the samsung satisfy you? (seems to hold charge for 3 days or so, my nokia 3120 does 7) ...

I use a Palm Treo 755p, it is fantastic for my needs. It does everything I used to take a laptop on the road to do (internet, email, videos, internet radio, .mp3 player, PIM, photo storage, camera) plus it is also a phone

I have a Nokia N70 Music Edition that I've used for about 15 months. I rarely do Internet browsing but the 1GB MMC-micro card comes in handy for mp3s and other files. Holds charge for abour 4-5 days with moderate use, which is perfectly acceptable for my needs.

I've got a Nokia 5300. It's got a great screen and is good for playing music, but it's a bit bulky. I like the slidey action, though--it feels solid, so it's nice to fidget with when I'm bored.

Thanks for replying guys.

I'm considering to get a Windows mobile this time, and Samsung is releasing the model i200 these days. Worlds smallest smartphone they say. :)
The Samsung i200 is a smartphone that runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard and has a stylish design. The handset measures 116.7 x 50.8 x 11.8 millimetres, it's 3G-enabled and comes with a 2.3 inch TFT display at a 240 x 320 pixels resolution, a 2 megapixel camera, PocketIE browser, email capabilities, Instant Messaging, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, Media player (MP3, WMA, AAC and MPEG4 support), voice command and voice memo, organiser, Java MIDP 2.0 and so on.
I've just briefly tried a windows mobile. Do you guys like the operating system?

And do you have any arguments _against_ the Apple iPhone?

I'ved used a lot of PDA phones, my favorite so far is the Motorola Q9. Awesome keyboard, decent screen, decent battery life, phone works well, and the size is great. It's available on most major carriers, I have a Q9m from Verizon, but the Sprint Q9c or ATT Q9 global offer GPS as well. Very nice. These phones are super easy to use, I administer about 30 of them at my workplace.

I would also consider checking out the new Blackberry Curve as well. (I haven't used one personally)

I have never used an iPhone, but a friend of mine has the 1st generation and he is selling it and buying the next generation iPhone coming out this week. It is improved and will allow 3rd party apps to be installed.

No one has asked yet if this forum is served up in a mobile format. I tried it on a smartphone, but got the full graphics/full width version.

Me, I'm looking at a Palm Centro. But haven't pulled the trigger yet. The price is really good for what you get with it.

I do not believe there is a mobile version of this forum. I read this forum on my Palm Treo and it loads very quickly, even with all the graphics.

Just my opinion, but I think you will love the Centro, does almost everything that my treo 755 does, just a tad smaller keyboard and screen. The internet is the EVDO speed, so very fast.

I have a Nokia 3110 Classic.

Here're three things I like about it:

1. A single charge lasts a week
2. Big buttons for SMS
3. Abuse proof (all plastic body but very rugged. i drop it all the time)

Before it my favorite phone was a Nokia too. Can't remember its number but it's a funny looking one. About three years ago, the night I broke up with my girlfriend I threw it against the ground violently to finish to call, it was broken in several pieces, which my friend picked up and reassembled it later and it has been working until today. Some buttons are not as sensitive as before but that is all. I also had a Sony Ericsson K700i and a Motorola W510 but they didn't work out for me.

So I went into a Sam's Club earlier this evening, and unlike the Sprint and AT&T stores, Sam's has the phones unleashed so you can hold and play with them. And playing with a Centro, there's a real wow factor, you walk away thinking it's hard to not buy one on the spot. I've seen several people do just in my shopping around. And I can see why.

I just have a cheap pay as you go cell phone. It's a Nokia 6275i.The screen is very hi rez....Only 1.8"(i think) and is QVGA(240x320).
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1025
I have just wap 2.0 wireless on it, and i use Opera Mini 4.1.
I can go to just about any web site that my laptop can.Well ones that dont use flash.
I'll get a pic of the cell tomorow but i can go onto this thinkpad forum no problem.I can log on. It's just slower BUT i can still go on this forum and check out all the new posts.
On the little 1.8" screen it shows the full web page with Opera Mini.It has a zoom box for when i need to read anything. It's realy not bad at all.
With this 6275i and Oprea Mini i can use MSN live,Facebook,G-mail,ect.
It's a great little cell phone.2.0 Meg cam,Micro SD card slot,QVGA screen.
If you have just a reg cell phone(not a smart phone or blackberry) try the Oprea Mini 4.1.

Does it take a SIM card? If so, there's a good chance I've owned one at some point.

Without going on a personal rant about the ups and down of most of the phones on the market, I'm currently using an HTC 8925, and purchasing a Nokia N95 to replace it soon.

I've sold cell phones for all four of the current majors carriers (Although Sprint has been a while) and am still selling them today, after 4 1/2 years. I can tell you the good and the bad about each carrier, both as a customer and as a seller of products.

The 8925 deserves its reputation as being the best of the best. I highly recommend it to the power user that needs a true all in one device. N95 review to come
Cell phones are my specialty. Got questions? Ask away.

i've been doing some research lately, for a bar phone, non slide non flip, with wifi, at least triband gsm.
my main options were blackberry, or nokia.
after going to try out a blackberry at the at&t store, i couldnt figure out how to easily do anything web based on it, especially search something on wikipedia. i then found out nokia makes smartphones, and honestly think nokia has one of the best user interfaces. very simple and intuitive to do anything. the nokia E51 is what i was considering.

I bought SonyEricsson Z710i last year from Amazon. I bought from my friend who handed over the handset to me in India.

I liked this handset very much. Exellent for GPRS/EDGE internet user's. Also has descent 2 megapixel camera, it's tri band , it has music functions and many more. Worth to count on . Use it for office use and for entertainment etc too. Only bad thing it supports up toy 2 GB memory card.

Watch out in action the phone Z710i >> http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/product ... c=in&lc=en

Sony Ericsson P1i ...

After I broke the screen on my M600i

img]http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/file/1. ... mage_1.png[/img]

I put it on the shelf and contemplated what to do with it...

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=

I picked up the P1i and still have the cracked M600i. I think I will get a new screen for it someday and use it as a backup.

that's actually somewhat ideal for me, but only triband, and the euro triband, not US where i live.
but basically i think a great phone would be:

touchscreen for web/gps navigating,
keyboard for typing, qwerty or the 12 key regular phone pad
gps
wifi
3g
triband US or quadband
it's only worth making it a music player if it can hold like 30gigs, otherwise ipod or similar is better, which, ipods are far from perfect too.

texting and many of the other fancy phone applications i'd feel i'd mostly use while driving, which you can't do with just a touchscreen very well, especially the texting

I've had 3rd party apps since the iPhone was released, but not through Apple (why pay when they're free already?).

Just yesterday, my iPhone developed the notorious dead strip problem on the screen, so it's basically useless. Let's see if Apple will take the phone back (AGAIN) for someone who isn't even an ATT customer...

If they replace it, I'm going to sell it.

Right now I'm back to my T-Mobile SDA...which I hoped to never use again. It's still brand new, has WiFi, so it'll work for a while. After the iPhone, it's hard to look at just about every other phone on the market (for features that I find necessary).
