AIM corruption?

My computer is otherwise running very well... Suddenly i cant open AIM. I figure i can just reinstall it...

My question however, is what could have caused this? I am being proactive in trying to determine the origin of the problem in order to eliminate any possible problems in the future. Is this a sign of a certain tye of MALWARE or is there another (many other?) explanation(s) for this?
