Sonoma - new chipset in short supply

#1 Post by rjm1135 » Tue Feb 22, 2005 12:03 am

Hi all,

What the subject says...

Just a line tagged on the end of another article on Intel's 64-Bit Pentium 4.

Cheers,

Seems like an excuse to drive up prices to me. Suppliers have been waiting for Sonoma for 6 months, what did Intel expect?

This doesn't surprise me. The original Centrino platform suffered similar shortages when it first launched in 2003.

It takes time to ramp up production to a point where the demands of all the manufacturers are satisfied.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
