I have yet to find a nice backpack bag that will pad my T42 15 incher to my liking. I ended buying a Jansport messenger style bag with the Jansport Shockshield protection at a discount price at marshalls. Most of the backpack bags I have seen have either been stuffy looking or has little to no padding.

This is mine...except mine is black and grey

Wouldn't a 20-30 sleeve from comp usa work with a bag pack?

I'll recommend the Tom Bihn "Brain Bag".

http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/_all/TB0104

It's designed to accomodate two laptops, so it's big enough for your 15" laptop plus some books and stuff. Your laptop goes inside a "Brain Cell" - a protective padded sleeve - inside the Brain Bag.

Here are some reviews:

gte204i...Sorry to say this, but that Tom Bihn bag is ugly! Also to add that you have to buy the $50 sleeve plus a $140 bag...that is crazy!

I don't think it's ugly - not for a student at least. It certainly wouldn't be something a professional would want to carry around. And if everything were about money, you wouldn't have bought a thinkpad. To me, quality most important. I wanted something that was comfortable, had plenty of room, would last, and most importantly would protect my thinkpad if (i hope not) it were dropped a few feet. In this bag, the laptop is actually suspended inside the backpack. If that isn't enough, the thick, padded insert should add additional cushioning.

What's $200 compared to your thinkpad? It will pay for itself after one fall.

I just got the Case Logic NCLE2 neoprene sleeve from CompUSA. It fits in there perfectly and then I just put it sleeve-and-all in by backpack.

They also make a hard-sided "sleeve" that looked intriguing.

There's a company called STM that make backpacks for notebooks (amongst other things).

http://www.standardtm.com.au/backpacks.cfm

Their products seem to get good reviews. If you like the look of them try googling stm "bag model" review - should turn up something.

Cheers,
Rob.
