X121e Trackpoint /-pad not working HELP

#1 Post by geoffrywalton » Tue Nov 13, 2012 3:49 am

Hi everyone,

my x121e worked perfectly fine until
suddenly my Trackpoint and Trackpad stopped working.
I tried reinstalling the ultraNav drivers, but that did not help.
They both show up in the device manager, where they are "acrive".
But when I click on the UltraNav icon it says they are inactive and grey.

The Trackpoint/Trackpad don't show up in BIOS:
Should I update bios from 1.15 to 1.16?

I haven't checked the hardware yet.

The warranty has run out, and so I cannot get help from support.
Didn't get an answer on any of the other THINKPAD BOards so I was hoping I could get help here.

Many thanks in advance!!!

Have you tried setting Bios to all default settings?

Here's a description on how to remove the X121e keyboard. I have the X100e, and it's extremely simple to remove the back -- only two screws. I haven't removed the keyboard, but the diagram appears to be like other Thinkpads -- just use something thin (like a credit card) to gently pop the tabs at the arrows marked on the diagram -- then gently move the keyboard forward/and up.

Here's a Lenovo instructional video for removing the keyboard -- the screws are different in the video, but the keyboard and ribbon cables are the same: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... D=PD022721
