X100e glossy screen

#1 Post by Colonel O'Neill » Mon Mar 15, 2010 10:31 pm

Is it just me or is the X100e's screen a little more glossy than the already partially-glossy screen of other ThinkPads?
I am comparing this to a T400 Samsung panel, and the X100e seems to have a more clearly defined reflection than the T400.
Granted, that screen still appears sharper and crisper than the T400 (and more readable on lowest brightness).

I can't seem to make up my mind if this is a good or bad thing... :??:

Yes, it does seem to be a little more glossy to me. I have been wondering if the screen coating has anything to do with the perceived contrast etc. I haven't noticed any negative impact of it so far, though all things being equal, I'd always prefer a perfectly matte screen.

A matter-matte (:P) would be nice, although a friend who bought an Asus refurb got one of those (CCFL). He does complain that it is too dim, but it's likely due to comparing it to new glossy LED-backlit screens around him.

The T400 semi-glossy isn't bad (glossy-wise, but other respects... :( ), but in retrospect, I would've liked WXGA+ _AND_ High Nit LEDs. sigh.
