Upgraded RAM to 3GB, very smooth performance!

My dual-core (AMD L335) based X100e came with 2gb (1 dimm) RAM. I upgraded it to 3gb (2 dimm, added 1gb dimm) today and under Win7 Pro the computer feels a lot smoother now! Well, even earlier it felt fine but now its running even better. I will suggest everyone to look into upgrading their RAM too.

(I am dual-booting Ubuntu and it felt smooth and responsive even under 2gb there so it makes no difference there).

Should go to 4GB if you can to get the dual channel effect and the 64-bit boost and also ReadyBoost with an SD card (highest class up to the reader's limitations would be optimal). I think you would feel the difference more. I tried this on my T61 and it whizzes braddah.

Usually you need two identical memory modules to get the dual channel working.

Even buying an original Lenovo sku, is not sufficient the can change supplier, and the supplier itself can change some specs on the ram modules.

The only sure option is buying two identical modules and use them together.

It's also possible to tweak the infos on the second module to match the ones on the first, but this is an operation not meant for the faint of heart and requires a bit of luck to find a second module with electrical specs close enough to the ones on the first module, to do the trick.

Unfortunately the reader in the X100e won't accommodate an SD/SDHC card as a permanent proposition; it sticks out by half the length of the card or more. An RS-MMC card will sit flush in the reader, but they only come in up to 4 GB and the speeds are also not the fastest since it is nearly abandoned tech now. In addition (don't know if this would matter much for ReadyBoost) the Realtek card reader on my machine seems to take a second to initialize and only does so when I actually begin reading/writing to or from the card.

Well, I just had a spare 1GB RAM module so I added it since it cost me nothing
