PCMCIA CD-ROM Driver

#1 Post by cchsiao » Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:51 am

I bought a used IBM 4x speed portable CD-400 for my new 701c; however, I cannot find any driver for the CD-ROM. Does anyone here have the driver for this particular CD-ROM, or does anyone know how to make it work under windows 98? Thanks.

AFAIK W98 was never an option on 701c/cs.
But have a look here:

But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

These two websites do not contain any information about the CD-ROM even if you wanna use it under windows 95. I personally think that it is because this IBM PCMCIA CD-ROM is not a standard accessory for 701c so it requires driver separately. Does anyone have the driver for this CD-ROM?

OK, I know this is many years later, but I am reviving my old 701CS and I do have the DOS drivers (not OS/2, still trying to track those down) if you still need them. I just reloaded the preload and since I couldn't find another computer to do the parallel port connection, I got the PCMCIA CD-ROM drivers added to the floppy and got the Win 3.1/OS/2 preload reloaded, so I know it works under DOS.And I just whacked the system from under Win 98, so I know it works there, too (at least Win 98 Second Edition, which is what used to be on it).
