Got My 1st 760XL, But Have A CD Issue

#1 Post by ThrillaDX » Wed Dec 18, 2024 9:37 am

I got my first ever 760XL yesterday for an awesome price, and its in great shape. Only issue I'm having is that the CD drive will not spin or attempt to read discs. It is powered. It shows up in My Computer and I can even eject it from My Computer. But when I put a disc in the light blinks one time and doesn't even attempt to spin or read the disc. I was trying to find a nice clear video or page with pictures on how to remove the CD drive, and possibly hard drive to replace it, but I can't find anything clear. I have the manual but it's not clear enough for me to comfortably try taking it apart. Can anyone help me out or lead me in a direction that can help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Removing CD drive on 760 series is very easy. You need to push to the back the latches on the sides of the laptop(same that you pull to open the lid) and lift the keyboard. Then you just need to pull on the tabs to take the drive out.
here is a video of the process
