ThinkPad 345C LCD Bezel

#1 Post by Amyy » Fri Aug 08, 2025 10:29 pm

Hi, this is my first post here so I apologize in advance if I'm doing anything wrong. Please let me know.

My friend has a (very cute!) ThinkPad 345C which works, but the LCD polarizer is degraded. She has plenty of experience with polarizer replacements on other laptops (wizardry as far as I'm concerned 😅), but we aren't sure how to get the bezel off and don't want to risk damaging it. We found the "volume 2" service manual (https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/tpvol2.pdf) which covers 340x/345x/type 2610, but it only describes how to remove the entire display assembly.

Does anyone have any tips for us or a link to a guide?

Thank you!

2/4 or 6 fairly obvious front screws and then best to get a very thin spudger inbetween the LCD bezel and the outside of the LCD itself (the bottom LCD is often still double-sided-adhesive attached to the bezel. Then it's just a case of unspudging the plastic clips all around the outside. Good find. I've only ever found (and have) a 345CS - where they Asia only?
