Thinkpad 701 Ram upgrade?

#1 Post by Rob » Thu Aug 25, 2005 10:42 pm

Anyone ever get 64mb of ram to work in a standard 701? Without the 133 upgrade?

I want to upgrade from my 24mb of ram, and I was either going to go the safe route and get a 32mb sodimm or I was thinking about trying a 64mb sodimm.

Ok, since no one knows the answer, I went down to a local computer store that had used hardware. We stuck a 64mb stick in there and the computer wouldn't turn on.

I ended up buying a 32mb stick for a total of 40mb.

I've got a 64MB chip in my 701 with the normal board and it works. The only side effect is that it disables the system board RAM, so I lose the orignal 8.
