Which Lenovo (e430) apps require Adobe AIR? How useful?
Which Lenovo (e430) apps require Adobe AIR? How useful?
Setting up my new Lenovo e430c, it quickly said to update Adobe AIR. Instead I uninstalled it. Why? Cuz I dislike unnecessary mysteryware and never needed AIR before. Besides, anything Adobe & nonvital is a security risk as the rats keep finding new holes in the ubiquitous Adobe cheeses, to crawl thru.
Apparently some installed Lenovo apps depend on AIR. Can someone tell me just which Lenovo apps depend on AIR? (I hope that changes with new app versions.) The user info on their usefulness is scanty, which doesn't help. I already removed the one that plasters tiles all over the non-touch-screen (Win 7). Thanks.

IMO, Adobe AIR is fairly harmless. About the only way to ensure a fresh, lean and mean install is to do.....a fresh install. That's what I do with all my machines, both new and old. Recovery CD/DVDs are pretty much useless to me.

I do not think you need it (adobe air).
I would do a test run without it and see how your day to day computing activities pan out. I think you should be fine without it.

Thank you, Tpadder.
Now, if I could just figure out if Lenovo Solution Center does anything unique*, or just takes shortcuts to the Win7 functions that are in the OS anyway. For instance, I see two battery strength icons (in the tray) and when I hover the cursor over them, they tell me the same % capacity; one apparently is in LSC, the other in the OS.

If I were you I would uninstall that POS LSC.
It warns you till you are sick about not having made backups, tells you to renew warranty when you still have years to go, etc.
It also has an option to "anonymously send data to Lenovo"....
Anonymously, yeah, right! Bloody spyware!
