Hello,

New on the forum, I allow myself to write to you for a problem of wifi card.

My thinpad e330 has a broadcom card on which I have problems with the driver under linux (not stable, bad reception ..)

I decided to change it and I bought a centrino N 2230 thinking that this one was the bios whitelist. But I have the error 1802 at the bios boot if I insert the card.

What remedy can I apply, a bios mod?

It may very well be a card that works with ThinkPads, but Lenovo, in addition to white listing cards in the BIOS, likes to require you to use their cards, so even if you could buy the card with that ThinkPad, unless it's a Lenovo branded card, it's unlikely to work.

There are some modified BIOS out there that remove the white list, but I'm not super familiar with which machines are supported. A cursory check for modified BIOS on the E330 via Google doesn't turn up much. Perhaps someone else has the answer?

From a practical standpoint, probably the best option would be to return or sell you current N2230, then buy a Lenovo branded N2230 if that's the card you want. You can tell it's a Lenovo card if it has a FRU printed on it. Good luck and welcome to TPF.
