Hello Everyone and thank you for the help in it man
A friend of mine gave me his old Lenovo Edge e530
I've already upgraded the spinning hard drive to a small SSD as I don't need a lot of space for this since I connect you with the servers in my house for most of my data. also upgraded the Bios .
I want to do some upgrades to CPU Ram Screen and Wfi Card .
It's running H0ET96WW(2.56) From 6-12-2025
here are my Questions what Core I7 should I get for this ?
I don't want this thing to throttle I running I am using a Core 5 53210M as the cpu
also is I'm only running 6 GB of DDR3 1066
I'd like to up the Ram to 16 GB
is 1600 the fastest Ram I should use or can Go to 1866 or 2133
also thought of replacing the screen with 1080P one is it possible ?
maybe the wifi card so I get Both Bands .. again is it possible ?
thanks if have other upgrades I should do please let me know in this thread .

Re: Upgrading E530
Some E530's came with the Core i7-3612QM, a 35-watt quad-core processor. The i7-3632QM is also a 35-watt quad-core and is a good candidate. All the other quad-core i7's are 45 watts and the E530's heatsink is not designed to handle the extra heat. Dual-core i7's are not recommended because the performance increase isn't big enough to matter.
Not sure about DDR3 speed, but if the 1866 or 2133 ones are priced the same as 1600, then there's no harm in getting them.
1080p upgrade is unknown--AFAIK no one has ever done it. That said, some E530's have HD+ (1600x900) screens, which require a 2-lane LVDS connection just like 1080p. The E530 FRU listing only mentions one LCD cable, which means that the HD and HD+ cables are one and the same. Bottom line, it's theoretically possible, but not 100% sure because no one has actually tried it.
