Re: Thinkpad x1 Tablet
Don't know about the X1 Tablet since don't know anyone who owned one (seemed a very niche product)...
Anyone with actual experience on this?
But in general, Thinkpad Tablets (X230T, etc.) had driver troubles with some of its non-keyboard buttons after an OS upgrade.
Not sure of other computer brands, does their tablets have trouble with OS upgrades?
I myself would love to have one of these X1 Tablets, primarily for its projector capability...
(But budget constraints prevented us from doing this, and X1 Carbon Tablets were slightly less powerful than its X1 Carbon notebook equivalents, given the same price budget range).

Re: Thinkpad x1 Tablet
Bought a used ThinkPad X1 Tablet off ebay, still with some months left on its warranty, got it late January or early February (probably the latter). Worked well for the first two or three months, then the cameras stopped working. Light on the front cam would stay lit, and no sign of life from the rear camera. Looks like a problem that afflicts most, if not all X1 Tabs, judging from the Lenovo ThinkPad forum.
Shortly after the warranty expired (June? July?), I had intermittent issues with the keyboard. Sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't, although I could usually get the tablet to recognize the keyboard by hitting the power switch to put it to sleep, then keep a finger on the touchpad as I hit the power switch again. Found another user in the Lenovo forums with a similar experience, and someone from Lenovo suggested upgrading the firmware, if the last two digits of the hardware ID were '40'. Mine weren't, posted a screenshot of my Hardware ID and asked if I should still upgrade anyway, haven't gotten a reply after two days. As an aside, the keyboard don't seem to attach to the tablet with the same "force" at about the same time.
Might've been last week or the other week, my mini-Display adapter stopped working. My external LCD monitor stayed blank, and got no sound. Given the issues with the cameras and the keyboard, I'm more inclined -- probably unfairly -- to blame the Tablet.
I've also been getting Windows Blue Screens a couple of times, might be some real hardware failure.
I really loved this machine when it was working, and hope to get it back to the state when I first got it. I'm checking into the Lenovo forums regularly.
My suggestion? Hold off and wait for Lenovo's refresh of the tablet. Or maybe go for a Helix if you really want a two-in-one now, although I haven't really looked at the forums for feedback

Re: Thinkpad x1 Tablet
Sorry to hear that your X1 Tablet had issues
It would be cool if ThinkPad can iron out these issues;
we almost bought one of these last year (bought X1 Carbon notebook instead)...

Re: Thinkpad x1 Tablet
Just checked the pins on my keyboard module, the two on the extreme left are loose, and may come off. I'm attaching it one more time, ensuring correct alignment with the tablet's connectors
Re: Thinkpad x1 Tablet
Hah!, that was it, although when I angled the keyboard, I lost the connection again. Managed to type that first sentence up to the second comma, then had to connect the external keyboard and mouse again. Hoping my neighborhood (literally
repair shop can fix this.
As an aside, I have a 7- or 8-year-old SL400 which looks its age that works fine apart from a Fan Error upon bootup and the possible consequent throttling of the CPU to protect it.
To be fair, the X1 Tablet was used, and I don't know how much the previous owner used it. It has no obvious external signs of abuse, and the Lenovo support forums show several issues with this particular model

Non Thinkpadders always make negative remarks about Thinkpads because their head is stuck in Apple brainwash.w0qj wrote:Here's the latest review of X1 Carbon Tablet

The key feel is subpar, yea I call BS!
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
