After installing W8 or W8.1 on my X41t, I made the mistake of letting WU install hardware updates. With W8 it was intentional (and regretted) since I observed a Wacom update, and with W8.1 I forgot to turn off WU and it had a chance to slap down a few updates. I have left W8.1 as is, since I mostly use Fedora 19 and Android x86 (Thinkpad Universal).
In the first salvo of updates after RTM comes an update for power management on Thinkpads. Sadly, this breaks the hibernate feature on my x41t and removing the update doesn't restore the RTM condition where hibernate works. I cannot use Suspend since the GMA900 (i915) doesn't have a WDDM driver for Windows 8.
Has anyone arrived at a workaround aside from wiping it clean and starting over?
Power management update for ThinkPads (from MS)
Re: Power management update for ThinkPads (from MS)
I really miss the Thinkvantage battery management feature I once had on my T61 when it had Win 7 on it. Now that I have 8.1 installed it's gone.
I really liked it.
