Hey guys
So I have a couple of T430's. I created a Win 7 image from scratch (very begining) and copy the same image using Symantec Ghost.
My problem is that I have a couple of people saying that everytime they boot the laptop back up from sleep mode over night, when they log in ((ctrl + alt + del) Username: Password) using the domain log in is that it freezes. It stays on the windows 7 background and they have to force restart it and viola it works perfectly. Is there a possible way for this to stop?
I did replace rams and upgraded them all to 8gb. Perhaps I have two T430's with 4gb, I'll take that 4gb and put it on the other laptop and use a 8gb stick for the first T430.
Thanks in advance

Re: T430 Logging in freezing
Hello jimmy_hun318,
Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear about your issues with the T430). I attempted to look up the issue in different forums, etc. From my research, I came to the following conclusions. I ranked them from highest probability to lowest (you can feel free to reference the lower ones if you’d like). I had a similar issue with my T430 except that it would stick at the log in screen in regular login (no Ctrl+Alt+Del. However, I haven’t the faintest idea why the T430’s are doing this and none of these answers are definitive.
My solution was to restore the Windows 7 OS to factory settings by accessing recovery software in the BIOS. When the ThinkPad boots up, it should have something in the bottom of the screen like "ThinkPad" and "A product of Lenovo" on the right-hand side. It says "Press Enter to interrupt boot", so please press Enter. Then press F11 or the control that relates to Recovering Windows. Just follow the directions through and then it should restore the Windows 7 OS. It worked for me ever since. If the machines are under warranty, you could send it in for service, but I think it takes about a business week for them to be returned.
Possibility 2: Hardware issues
It looks like you came to this conclusion yourself and swapped out the RAM. Has this resolved the issue at all?
Possibility 3:
A movement has activated the hard drive system protection telling it to stop HDD movement and thus causing the freezing when logging in. From what your description says, I don’t think this is necessarily an issue as your operators left the machines on sleep overnight.
Possibility 4: Lenovo Software
Seeing as how all of the issues are for ThinkPads, it could have something to do with Lenovo software. After my OS restore, I also don’t have any of the Lenovo ThinkVantage software running, so this could be a possible factor. In the T42/T43 series, in other forums, it was noted that the IBM TVTScheduler, which is a program for ThinkVantage program scheduling automatic updates and such was causing a system hang at the start screen. I don’t think it’s relevant to our discussion here since no issues were reported on Vista and I don’t think it would jump back into Windows 7.
Possibility 5: All of the systems have a virus
I find this to be highly unlikely that all of the machines would have a virus that affects
In some other forums, many people seemed irked at the fact that this was not actually the case and people kept offering alternatives.
Possibility 6: A registry error
Same reasoning as the virus. Not sure if it’s the BIOS or something in the T430 batches (assuming you ordered them all at the same time). For this, CCCleaner was recommended as a possible solution. And then if the issue persists, then a BIOS update is in order.
I hope your situation is resolved.
