t440p windows recovery

#1 Post by urbanz » Fri Apr 11, 2014 2:35 am

Hi,

Last week I bought a t440p with pre-installed windows 7 pro. Along with the laptop I got next 5 CDs:

-Applications and Drivers Recovery Disc (2 CDs)

-Operating System Recovery Disc (2 CDs)

-Supplemental Recovery Disc (1 CD)

And with these CDs I could upgrade my windows 7 pro to windows 8. I did that. But because I need ubuntu for my work, I tried to install it and figure out that It's almost impossible to install it along with win 8 as dual boot system. So, because I urgently needed ubuntu, I've made a clean install of ubuntu. So now, that I have time I would like to install that windows 8 back and somehow manage to work on win machine.

Have I completely formated hard drive (with ubuntu clean install), or is there any way I could have original win8 back laptop?

I tried to follow the instructions for recovery, but when I insert first CD, little blue window pops out, with Windows bootloader, ubuntu, and some other stuff option. And if I click windows bootloader, it goes to the BIOS. But if I disable secure boot and UEFI in bios, I can go through the recovery process (cca. 2 hours) with CDs. But in the end, when it says it's successfully done, It doesn't boot windows or anything.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much!
