Screen Resolution 3k

#1 Post by arvin0180 » Wed Jun 24, 2015 12:14 pm

Hi,

I have a t550 with 3k non touch display. My question is is it okay to use native resolution and put the text scaling to 200%? (since the texts and icons are very small).

Or is it better to lower down the resolution and make the dpi scaling to normal? Is it okay to use the 1920x1080 resolution on my 3k screen? I mean it suggests recommended at 2880x1620.

Thanks in advance!

Personally, I recommend using it at full resolution and 150% scaling, which gives you text size similar to that of a native FHD display. However, you might just want to check it out yourself first. Just visit a dealer nearby that has such a machine on display.

Some people prefer 125%, some may want more than 150% scaling and I even know a guy who uses the 3k display with no scaling at full resolution.

That's the whole idea of high-res displays. YOU can define what you'd rather have. More space or bigger text size.

Thanks for the reply, i am getting quicker replies here at this forums compared to the official lenovo forums :).

I have tried the 150% however it is still very small for me. I mean i can still fully utilize the screen resolution by just increasing the dpi scaling right?

Yes, I recommend trying 175% if 150% is too small. You might have to manually set it to a custom scaling value of 175% as Windows only offers >150% on crazy high-res displays.
