T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)
T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)
Hi there!
Has anyone got their T480 working with 64GB RAM via 2x32GB SODIMMs?
32GB sticks are fairly new (thus expensive), but a maxed T480 (i7 8650u + 2tb ssd + 72wh battery) would make an ideal 14” mobile workstation for work without break the back.
I’m not a great fan of the P1/X1E due to the limited battery options.
Thanks,
Tian

Re: T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)
Here is why I was wondering if anyone actually tried this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comme ... _possible/
Of course, the chances are that there's some misunderstanding (on campuspoint.de's part) as I could not find any other manufacturers using 8th U processors providing this option.
Worth watching this space, just in case

Hello,
2x32GB of memory work with T480.
I'm using 2x CMSX64GX4M2A2666C18 since month without any issue.

As usual, you can't trust published specs when it comes to 'max memory'. You need to dig in to see what the real limits are because they only publish the spec based on the largest modules that were available for testing at that time and usually don't update.

Re: T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)
Back a generation to the T470s I use with one available slot and 4Gb on board is working with 36Gb with a 32Gb slotted.
Remember the '90's when 1Mb was about $40? At that cost can anyone figure out how much 32Gb would be worth? Too many zeros for me.... Its like buying Amazon for $3 and change....
